Qualifications

Job Summary:

We are seeking a motivated and skilled tax professional to join our growing team. We are flexible in who fills this gap and therefore open to applicants from those seeking a role at experienced Assistant Manager lever up to Senior Manager level. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work on M&A transactions and deal structuring and get involved with wide-ranging tax advisory assignments. You will also be responsible for overseeing the preparation of complex corporate tax computations, managing the tax compliance process, and providing strategic advice on a variety of tax issues to clients.

You will play a key role in managing the delivery of high-quality tax services while supporting the professional development of junior team members. The role involves regular interaction with clients, ensuring tax compliance deadlines are met, and contributing to the overall success of the firm.

Tax Compliance & Reporting:

  • Lead the preparation of complex corporation tax computations, ensuring accuracy and timely filing.
  • Review tax computations prepared by junior staff, providing feedback and identifying risks.
  • Oversee and prepare, or review, tax accounting provisions and disclosures.
  • Conduct research on tax rules and apply to client scenarios.
  • Advise on strategic decisions such as loss utilisation and efficient use of tax assets.
  • Lead or support tax due diligence reviews and report on key risks.
  • Support strategic tax decisions and identify improvement opportunities.

Tax Advisory & Client Interaction:

  • Manage client relationships and communicate tax matters clearly.
  • Offer tailored tax advice based on clients’ business needs.
  • Direct or participate in client meetings for tax planning discussions.
  • Contribute to the training and development of junior staff.
  • Provide feedback to foster both technical and soft skills growth.
  • Ensure deadlines are met and support project completion.
  • Promote a positive, supportive, organised team environment.
  • Strong technical knowledge of corporate tax, including group tax structures, capital allowances, and tax provisions.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects in support of Directors and Partners while meeting deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to explain complex tax issues to clients in a clear, understandable manner.
  • Ability to mentor and support junior team members.
  • Attention to detail and proactivity in identifying and managing risks.
  • Excellent organisational skills and a team-oriented approach.
  • Ability to build and maintain client relationships while providing exceptional service.
  • Strong IT competency, including a proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office software (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), with the ability to efficiently use these tools for data analysis, reporting, and presentations.

Qualifications:

  • Preferably ACA/ACCA/CTA qualified (or equivalent) or at least part-qualified.
  • Minimum three years’ experience in UK corporate tax, with a strong understanding of tax compliance.
  • Some experience of tax advisory and M&A tax issues is preferable especially at Manager level upwards.
