Job summary

Saffery LLP is seeking a qualified corporate tax professional to join its Corporate Tax team in Leeds. You will deliver compliance and advisory work for a diverse client portfolio, including UK and international clients, under the guidance of partners and managers.

You will manage tax computations, milestones, and client communications while developing expertise in areas such as international tax, capital allowances, and R&D relief. A supportive path for career growth is emphasised.

Qualifications

  • Qualified CPA/CTA/ACCA with 1–2 years post-qualification experience in corporation tax.
  • Strong UK tax technical skills and ability to analyse tax queries and provide robust solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review corporation tax computations.
  • Manage milestones, returns and payment deadlines.
  • Correspond with clients and HMRC.
  • Support Partners and Managers on tax advisory assignments including international tax and planning projects.
  • Assist in complex tax areas such as capital allowances, transfer pricing, and tax relief claims.
  • Contribute to stand-alone tax advisory projects and due diligence.

Job description

The successful candidate will be part of Saffery’s Corporate Tax team, responsible for managing a diverse client portfolio, encompassing the delivery of both corporate tax compliance and advisory services. This is a challenging and interesting client facing role, which will include exposure to a range of both UK and international clients.

The responsibilities

Frequently dealing with challenging technical issues, the candidate can expect the role to encompass the following areas amongst others:

  • Preparation and review of corporation tax computations;
  • Taking an active role in the management of key milestones, return and payment deadlines
  • Corresponding with clients and HMRC;
  • Supporting Partners and Managers on the delivery of tax advisory assignments and planning projects including international tax, capital allowances, R&D tax relief and structuring advice;
  • Support in advising on a range of technical areas such as complex capital allowances claims, R&D tax relief, transfer pricing, Substantial Shareholdings Exemption, Controlled Foreign Companies, Corporate Interest Restriction, Withholding Tax and Double Taxation Relief, with the support of specialist colleagues where required;
  • Providing support in stand‑alone tax advisory projects, including structuring acquisitions and disposals, transaction support and due diligence; and
  • Support and guidance of an approachable senior management who will help you to achieve your long‑term career goals

The Team

Our Corporate Tax team spans our 9 office locations and comprises 7 partners and over 100 professionals. The Corporate Tax teams deal with a large portfolio of companies operating in a variety of sectors, including manufacturing, technology, retail, recruitment, financial services, hospitality and property. These clients range from smaller owner‑managed businesses to large and complex listed groups, as well as charities and not for profit organisations.

You

The role would suit a qualified individual (for example ACA/ACCA/CTA) with one to two years post qualification experience in corporation tax.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the following:

  • Strong UK tax technical skills; Ability to analyse tax technical queries and provide robust advice and solutions;
  • Project management skills, with the ability to plan and prioritise work, meet deadlines and monitor budgets;
  • Responsibility for the delivery and quality of work;
  • Excellent communication skills;
  • A clear client focus with a commitment to building strong client relationships;
  • Ability to work collaboratively in different teams; Coaching and mentoring skills to develop other team members; and
  • Willingness to learn with a keen desire to become involved in new areas and share knowledge.
