Job summary

A public sector client is seeking an experienced Corporate Support and Correspondence Officer for an interim role. The successful candidate will manage statutory requests and correspondence, ensuring compliance with FOI and GDPR regulations. This role offers flexible working with regular office attendance in Edinburgh. The assignment is set to start in July 2025, lasting for 6 months with a potential extension.

Job description

Corporate Support and Correspondence Officer

ASA are working with a public sector client who is looking for an experienced Corporate Support and Correspondence Officer to join their team on an interim basis. The successful candidate will provide vital support in managing statutory requests and correspondence in line with regulatory obligations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and monitor Freedom of Information (FOI) and Environmental Information Regulation (EIR) requests.
  • Redact sensitive, personal, or commercial data in compliance with GDPR and FOI/EIR legislation.
  • Draft and coordinate responses, ensuring statutory deadlines are met.
  • Acknowledge and log incoming requests and correspondence.
  • Track and follow up on internal contributions to casework.
  • Monitor FOI and corporate mailboxes regularly.

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Proven experience handling FOI requests and redactions.
  • Strong understanding of FOI/EIR legislation and GDPR principles.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills.
  • Experience using case management systems or planning tools.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to compile and assess information quickly.
  • Effective team player, able to work collaboratively across departments.

Desirable Experience:

  • Experience managing Environmental Information (Scotland) Regulation requests.
  • Background in a public sector corporate or policy environment.
  • Familiarity with handling ministerial correspondence and public complaints.
  • Understanding of Scottish Public Services Ombudsman (SPSO) procedures and expectations.

Additional information:

Location: Flexible working, with regular office attendance Edinburgh

Assignment Start Date: 7th or 14th July 2025 (subject to BPSS clearance)

Duration: 6 months with an optional 1-month extension

IR35 Status: Inside IR35 / pay rate negotiable*

Security Requirements: Basic Disclosure, BPSS clearance, and right to work in the UK.
