Job Description

Are you an inspirational and collaborative leader? Are you keen to use your leadership skills to protect the organisation and our staff?

As Corporate Security Senior Advisor, you’ll work in a small team responsible for providing assurance that we’re addressing security risks and fostering a positive security culture. You will serve as a role model for security, promoting good behaviors and protecting the organization from threats to people, data, information, or assets.

In this role, you will:

1. Assist the Corporate Security Manager in overseeing and mitigating security risks.
2. Provide leadership and guidance on assessing and managing security risks, including retained responsibilities.
3. Collaborate with risk owners across the organization to understand, assess, and mitigate risks.
4. Offer assurance to the Senior Responsible Officer (SRO), EA Board, and Executive Directors.
5. Partner with Defra group Security to ensure security strategies, policies, and processes are in place.
6. Lead initiatives to enhance security culture through training, communication, and engagement.
7. Conduct governance meetings to oversee security-related decisions.
8. Maintain networks with security professionals to stay informed of the latest developments.

The team

You will be part of a small, welcoming team within the Corporate Management, Assurance, and Security unit, focused on organizational resilience and effectiveness. You will have access to professional security advice from Defra group Security and collaborate with subject matter experts in the Environment Agency.

Experience/Skills Required

The external security landscape is complex and evolving. While you do not need to be a security professional, the following skills and experience are essential:

1. An understanding of broader influences on organizational security to enable continuous improvement.
2. Proven leadership skills to achieve outcomes, promote partnerships, influence, and inspire others.
3. Ability to build effective partnerships with Defra and Environment Agency colleagues to jointly manage risks.
4. Experience working with senior stakeholders, managing multiple priorities, and balancing demands.
5. Experience in inspiring cultural change, stakeholder management, leading communications, and implementing business change initiatives is advantageous.

This is a hybrid role; you will be based at your nearest office in England and can work from home. Some national travel will be required.
