Job Description:

Overview

Education Scotland is Scotland’s national improvement agency for education. Our role is to provide assurance and promote improvement across all levels of education. We are committed to embedding values of excellence, creativity, integrity, and respect.

The CLD Standards Council is the professional body for community learning and development practitioners, established in 2008. It aims for communities in Scotland to be served effectively by competent, confident, and committed CLD practitioners who promote equality, empowerment, and lifelong learning.

The Council is hosted by Education Scotland, which also acts as the employing body.

The Corporate Performance Officer will work closely with the Assistant Director and Development Officer to gather evidence, support practice standards, inform decisions, and develop professional learning for CLD practitioners. The role involves leading, monitoring, and reporting on the Council’s corporate plan, and engaging with stakeholders across the sector.

Responsibilities

  1. Support the Assistant Director in implementing, monitoring, reviewing, and reporting on strategic objectives and policies.
  2. Assist with corporate governance duties and prepare reports for various stakeholders.
  3. Lead the compilation of the annual report.
  4. Implement procedures for capturing and reporting on organizational activities.
  5. Support teams in identifying areas for improvement and enhancing evidence-based reporting.
  6. Gather national data to profile the CLD workforce in Scotland.
  7. Collaborate with FE/HE institutions to report on student demographics.
  8. Advise on methodologies for evaluative studies, considering ethical and data protection issues.
  9. Develop tools, guidance, and training to build internal capacity for data use and evaluation.

Essential Criteria & Qualifications

There are no specific qualifications required.

  1. Strong knowledge and experience in CLD practice and workforce.
  2. Proficiency in qualitative and quantitative data analysis, with a focus on quantitative methods and understanding of Data Protection Act 2018.
  3. Problem-solving, decision-making, and prioritization skills under time constraints.
  4. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, tailored to diverse audiences.

Additional Information

Provisional Dates: To be confirmed.

Location: Based in one of the Education Scotland offices (Glasgow, Livingston, Dundee, Aberdeen, Inverness). Hybrid working in line with Scottish Government policies.

Minimum three-year tenure unless promoted. A reserve list will be maintained for 12 months for future posts.
