We are a leading UK law firm renowned for our commitment to excellence, client service, and delivering innovative legal solutions. Our firm is recognised for its collaborative and dynamic working environment, offering high-quality legal advice to a diverse range of clients, from multinational corporations and financial institutions to SMEs, start-ups and high-net-worth individuals. We pride ourselves on fostering professional growth, encouraging innovation, and maintaining an inclusive and supportive culture.

About the role

We are seeking an experienced and commercially minded Corporate Partner to join our highly respected and ambitious corporate team. This is a standout opportunity to play a leading role in a dynamic and growing practice, advising a prestigious client base that spans SMEs to global blue-chip companies across a broad range of sectors.

As a Corporate Partner, you will lead on complex and high-value transactions, support the development of junior team members, and collaborate closely with fellow partners across the firm. You will bring a strong track record of advising on M&A, private equity, joint ventures, corporate structuring, and strategic advisory matters.

In addition to your legal expertise, you will be committed to driving business development initiatives, nurturing long-standing client relationships, and identifying opportunities to cross-sell across the wider firm. This role offers a platform to shape the future direction of the corporate practice while playing a key part in the firm’s continued growth and success.

About the team

Our Corporate team is widely recognised for delivering commercially focused, high-quality legal advice on a wide range of corporate transactions. We work with a diverse client base, including entrepreneurs, owner-managed businesses, multinational corporations, private equity firms, and institutional investors.

The team has extensive experience across M&A, private equity, venture capital, corporate finance, corporate governance, and regulatory compliance, regularly handling high-value and complex transactions across multiple sectors.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a growing and ambitious team that is committed to supporting your career development and professional growth.

Key responsibilities
  • Originating, leading, and overseeing complex corporate transactions, including M&A, private equity, joint ventures, corporate restructurings, and general corporate advisory work, with a focus on high-value, strategic matters.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for key clients, providing commercially focused and strategic legal advice across a broad range of corporate matters.
  • Draft and negotiate key transactional documentation, such as share and asset purchase agreements, shareholder agreements, and investment agreements.
  • Manage and oversee deal teams, coordinating with specialists in, employment, banking, commercial, real estate, and regulatory disciplines to ensure a seamless client service.
  • Develop and maintain strong client relationships, acting as a trusted advisor and supporting clients at every stage of the business lifecycle.
  • Drive business development efforts, including identifying opportunities, pitching for new work, cross-selling other services, and expanding the firm’s client base.
  • Contribute to the strategic growth of the corporate practice, working closely with the partnership to shape direction and implement initiatives.
  • Mentor, support, and supervise junior lawyers and trainees, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture within the team.
  • Maintain a high level of technical knowledge, staying up to date with legal developments, market trends, and regulatory changes affecting corporate clients.
  • Uphold the firm’s values and standards, ensuring excellence in client service, ethical conduct, and professional integrity.
About you

We are seeking an experienced and commercially astute Partner with at least 10 years PQE in corporate law. You will have strong technical expertise in M&A, private equity, and corporate advisory matters, as well as excellent leadership, negotiation, and client management skills, and the ability to lead and grow a successful corporate practice.

Personal specification
  • At least 10 years post-qualification experience at senior level in corporate law gained at a reputable UK law firm.
  • Extensive experience in corporate law, including M&A, private equity, joint ventures, and corporate restructuring.
  • Experience advising a diverse client base including SMEs, large corporates, private equity houses, and entrepreneurs.
  • Proficiency in business development and marketing strategy, with a clear understanding of client acquisition and retention.
  • Strong technical knowledge of corporate law, regulatory frameworks, and market practices. With excellent drafting, negotiation, and analytical skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams and take responsibility for major client relationships.
  • Experience mentoring and supervising junior lawyers and trainees, providing guidance on technical and commercial aspects of corporate work.
  • Proven ability to generate work through an existing client following and/or strong business development track record.
  • Strategic thinker with a vision for the development and growth of the corporate practice.
  • Able to identify opportunities for cross-selling and working collaboratively across practice areas.
  • Resilient under pressure and adaptable to changing business needs.
  • Confident communicator with strong interpersonal and client-handling skills.
