Job description

An exciting opportunity has come up with a global (re)insurance group looking to hire a commercial and confident Legal Counsel to support their European business segment. This is a high-impact role for someone with experience in corporate insurance, regulatory matters, and transactional work, who’s looking to step into a broad, business-facing position with real scope.

You'll be part of a well-respected legal function that works closely with senior leadership on strategic initiatives, complex reorganisations, and cross-border M&A activity.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Acting as the go-to legal advisor for European operations on corporate, governance, and regulatory matters.
  • Supporting M&A transactions, from due diligence through to negotiation of key documents.
  • Advising on regulatory issues including UK and EU frameworks, with exposure to specialist market arrangements.
  • Playing a lead legal role in business integrations, restructurings, and transformation projects.
  • Providing board and senior stakeholder advice on legal risk, governance, and commercial strategy.
  • Collaborating with a global team of legal professionals to support wider business initiatives.

What We’re Looking For:

  • A qualified solicitor (England & Wales or equivalent) with approx. 3–6 years’ PQE.
  • Strong experience in corporate insurance law, ideally with direct exposure to M&A and regulatory matters.
  • Familiarity with UK financial services regulatory frameworks – particularly those relevant to insurance.
  • Comfort working across jurisdictions and with cross-border matters.
  • Confident in managing transactions and advising on governance and company law issues.
  • Commercial mindset with strong written and verbal communication skills.

Why This Role?

  • Step into a broad legal role with real influence and variety – beyond a typical advisory position.
  • Get involved in strategic business decisions, including M&A, structuring, and European regulatory developments.
  • Join a high-calibre legal team within a well-capitalised, global insurance group.
  • Enjoy a flexible, hybrid working model and a genuinely collaborative culture.

If you’re a driven and commercially minded Legal Counsel looking for a role with real scope in a global insurance environment, I’d love to speak with you.
