A leading museum organization is looking for a Corporate Information Officer to manage the retrieval and cataloguing of corporate records. The successful candidate will ensure information is organized and accessible, contributing to collections projects. This role, based in London, requires strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Benefits include career growth, health insurance, and a work/life balance with generous annual leave.
Do you enjoy keeping information organised, accurate and accessible, and take pride in making sure the details are right? Are you looking for a practical role where you can work independently, stay on top of deadlines, and play a vital part behind the scenes in a museum or archive environment?
About us
The Science Museum Group (SMG) encompasses the Science Museum, the National Railway Museum, the Science & Industry Museum, the Science & Media Museum, Locomotion and the Science and Innovation Park. Making us the world's greatest alliance of science museums.
Supporting this group goal, our Corporate Information champions are tasked with managing all corporate information generated by SMG's activities, helping our colleagues in maintaining the Group's commitment to transparency and compliance with our access to information obligations.
About the role
In this role, you will share the team's responsibility for the retrieval, cataloguing, review, storage and disposal of records created by our colleagues. Your work will primarily focus on researching and providing access to corporate records relating to our object collections, to assist with wider collections projects.
This is a fixed term contract until March 2026 and you will be working Monday to Friday, 35 hours per week, based at the Science Museum in London.
*Please note - internally the role is known as Corporate Information Officer.
About you
We're keen to see applications from candidates who are motivated by managing and handling information in a museum context and who thrive on keeping things organised. You'll have a genuine interest in how information is organised, catalogued, and preserved in libraries, archives, or records management, alongside a clear interest in working with museum collections and appreciating their cultural, historical, or scientific value.
We are seeking individuals who can manage their own workload effectively and respond to colleague requests directly, so being able to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines while producing high-quality work with meticulous attention to detail is vital. You'll bring proficient organisational and communication skills, building positive relationships with people at all levels while staying driven and solution focused.
In this role, you will engage in physical tasks, so being comfortable with manual handling and operating at heights, such as safely moving or organising boxes and files according to health and safety standards, is important. Knowledge of relevant standards or legislation, and any experience working with object collection information would be beneficial, but not essential.
If you have an interest in museum collections and want to play a vital part in safeguarding and improving how information is cared for and accessed, we'd like to hear from you.
