Job summary

A local government council in Wrexham is seeking a Corporate Health & Safety Lead to manage the Health and Safety team across the organisation. In leading and managing the Health and Safety team, you will champion and model positive practices and improvements, identify and advise on best practice in Health and Safety, and consider the impact of changes in the Council’s delivery of services to ensure that the Council remains compliant and manages its responsibilities and obligations. You will act as point of contact for liaison with the Health and Safety Executive.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage the Health and Safety team across the organisation; champion positive practices and improvements.
  • Identify and advise on best practice in Health and Safety; assess the impact of changes in service delivery on compliance and obligations.
  • Act as the point of contact for liaison with the Health and Safety Executive.
  • Support the Health and Safety team to ensure appropriate qualifications and experience; manage a team that works across the organisation.
  • Engage with other teams and Managers to ensure Health and Safety responsibilities are understood and valued; establish mechanisms to monitor compliance and performance; provide training and guidance as required.
Qualifications
  • CMIOSH and NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent); experience of working in public sector organisations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, leadership and interpersonal skills; confident liaising with internal and external partners at various levels.
Location & Travel

The successful applicant will be based within the Health and Safety Team in Wrexham City Centre with travel to other locations as necessary.
