Job description

The Corporate Governance team is a small and newly formed team which works at pace. Our mission is to achieve and embed good governance across the Trust through providing professional governance advice, supporting regulatory compliance and enabling safe, effective and transparent decision making.

Main duties of the job

As the Corporate Governance Manager, you will play a fundamental governance role in supporting the Executive Director of Corporate Affairs and Head of Corporate Governance to ensure that professional, effective and efficient administrative support is provided to the Board, Board Committees, and Council of Governors.

The post holder will be responsible for a Corporate Governance Apprentice and work closely with and have professional exposure to the Chair, Non-Executive and Executive Directors as well as senior managers.

Person Specification
Qualifications
  • Masters level qualification or equivalent professional relevant experience in corporate governance role.
  • Evidence of continued professional development in a relevant field
  • CGI Advanced Certificate in Healthcare Governance (or willingness to work towards in first of employment) or qualified Chartered Secretary/Chartered Governance Professional
  • Advanced IT and keyboard skills across all Microsoft Programmes
  • Evidence of personal professional development
  • Recognised professional managerial qualification.
Experience
  • Knowledge of NHS Corporate Governance principles and best practice
  • Evidence of continued professional development in corporate governance or relevant field.
  • Knowledge of good staff management principles and experience of managing junior staff (e.g. apprentice).
  • Experience of providing comprehensive, high quality corporate governance support
  • Experience as a Governance Manager or acting as a Deputy in an NHS organisation.
  • An understanding of governance in an NHS foundation trust
