We have an exciting new opportunity to join the BBC Group's Corporate Finance team, working across the BBC's public service and the BBC's commercial subsidiaries. The Group Corporate Finance team leads on financing, investment and transaction activities in the BBC, providing advice and execution expertise at the most senior levels in the BBC. The role reports directly to one of the two heads of the team.
You will be directly involved in the assessment of strategic options and commercial opportunities for the Group (where the BBC is a principal or shareholder). You will also lead on transaction and non-transaction corporate finance valuation, negotiations and advice.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities

Group planning

  1. Maintaining and analysing the long-term corporate modelling across the BBC's public and commercial activities.
  2. Advising on longer term strategic financial priorities and management of financial risk, providing effective financial advice to senior management.
  3. Supporting the interactions with Group Strategy, Businesses, Divisions and Senior Leadership in understanding the implications of financial transactions and activity on Group performance.
  4. Preparing and presenting insightful analysis as the foundation for strategic decision-making, resource allocation and performance management.
Corporate finance advice
  1. Providing corporate finance expertise across the BBC Group on the assessment, structuring and negotiation of financial transactions, investments and partnerships.
  2. Referencing and championing external and BBC-wide knowledge of best practice in corporate finance financial analysis.
  3. Acting as a critical adviser to appraise, challenge and resolve key business initiatives and issues.
Performance
  1. Analysing and reviewing financial performance to enhance understanding thereof on the part of management, the BBC Board, regulators and external advisers.
  2. Influencing BBC decision-makers in the shareholder oversight of the BBC's commercial subsidiaries.
  3. Providing assurance and delivering recommendations and solutions based on high quality, concise and sound financial and strategic analysis.
Special projects
  1. Working with stakeholders across the Group to participate in and manage special projects.
  2. Engaging with external advisory partners, government bodies and financial institutions.
  3. Managing consultants to ensure they can perform any analysis required.
  4. Building collaborative relationships across the BBC's Finance teams, public service divisions, Group functions and commercial subsidiaries.
  5. Overseeing the triannual valuation process with the BBC's defined benefit Pension Scheme.

Knowledge, Skills, Training & Experience

You will have strong experience working in corporate finance or a closely-related discipline. Your background would ideally include experience in:
  1. Corporate finance or related areas (such as working on financial transactions; investments; mergers and acquisitions; or financial modelling).
  2. Project leadership or management.
  3. Financial return or corporate valuation analysis.
  4. Providing written advice and recommendations to a board-level standard.
  5. Creating and delivering clear presentations to non-financial stakeholders.
  6. Building corporate forecasting models.
  7. Partnering with stakeholders or clients to challenge and test assumptions.

Package Description

Band: E
Contract type: 7 month FTC
Location: London Broadcasting House (with hybrid-working)
Salary: anticipated range £65,000-£80,000 (plus London Weighting £5,319 if London based), dependent upon experience.
