Job description

Location: Manchester, North West – United Kingdom Type: Permanent

A leading advisory firm is seeking a talented and driven Corporate Finance Manager to join its Power & Utilities (P&U) practice. Recognised as a premier financial, regulatory, and economic advisor in the UK infrastructure space, the P&U team plays a pivotal role in enabling billions of pounds of investment across water, energy, and aviation sectors.

This high-impact role is ideal for professionals with a background in debt advisory, capital markets, or credit ratings who are eager to shape the future of critical UK infrastructure. The team supports infrastructure companies and investors in developing, financing, and stress-testing business plans that drive long-term investment and regulatory outcomes.

About the Team

At the centre of the P&U offering is the Corporate Finance team—specialising in debt and credit rating advisory. By operating at the crossroads of policy, regulation, and finance, the team delivers strategic insight that goes beyond traditional corporate finance services.

Notable recent projects include:

Advising on the equity requirements for a major UK water company

Supporting the issuance of benchmark utility bonds

Assisting a European energy network in securing a first-time credit rating

Financing key infrastructure projects across regulated sectors

Leading regulatory financeability assessments, including work related to CMA appeals in the water industry

Role Responsibilities

As a Manager, the successful candidate will lead the delivery of multiple concurrent client engagements. Responsibilities include:

Developing bespoke financial models and credit rating frameworks

Assessing financing options and debt structures

Performing in-depth financial analysis to support strategic recommendations

Preparing client reports, board papers, and stakeholder presentations

Monitoring debt markets and regulatory developments

Contributing to new business development efforts and client relationship growth

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will bring:

Significant experience in debt advisory, capital markets, credit ratings, or corporate treasury—preferably within a bank, advisory firm, credit agency, or infrastructure company

A strong foundation in corporate finance principles

Proficiency in credit assessment techniques and debt market analysis

Advanced financial modelling and analytical skills

Excellent writing and communication abilities, with a knack for translating technical concepts into actionable insights

An understanding of UK regulated infrastructure and typical financing structures within the utilities sector is advantageous. Professional qualifications such as ACA, ACCA, or CFA are highly desirable.
