Overview

The Corporate Banking Senior Analyst in UK Industrials will have a strong focus on Metals & Mining (M&M) clients with a small amount of exposure to Shipping & Aviation. This is an intermediate level professional responsible for providing bespoke capital structure expertise and corporate finance advice to clients. The Analyst is expected to work with Senior Bankers in business origination and execution across Citi’s product set, with particular focus on episodic and strategic financing transactions. The overall objective of this role is to deliver content and drive revenue by cross selling the Citi platform while efficiently deploying the firm's capital and evaluating and managing risk.

The role encompasses heavy focus on the M&M industry and regional client set, delivering market leading industry content and championing the delivery of Corporate Finance initiatives. The Analyst will become an expert in the M&M space with exposure to multiple relationship teams and product specialists throughout Citi, working closely with Investment Bank and product partners including Capital Markets (DCM, ECM, Acquisition & Project Finance, Leveraged Finance, etc.), Markets (Commodities, Derivatives, FX, etc.), Treasury & Trade Solutions (Trade Finance, Cash Management, etc.) and Corporate Finance / Lending initiatives. The role involves providing analytical support, risk assessment and monitoring of existing and new relationships in the Industrials portfolio, and developing strong client relationships with direct engagement at the CFO / Treasury level.

Responsibilities
  • Partner with Senior Bankers to provide overall relationship management support to clients along with industry expertise for the wider sector
  • Be a member of the deal team for the origination and execution of episodic and Corporate Finance transactions involving clients across the globe
  • Stay abreast of market and industry trends, best practices and competitive landscape
  • Risk assessment and credit analysis of existing relationships including periodic review of financial results and statements to monitor operating performance, liquidity position and financial condition; perform peer analysis, identify industry trends and outlook, and prepare financial projections and sensitivity analysis
  • Develop client pitch materials tailored to meet client needs, lead execution of episodic transactions / financings and foster ongoing relationships
  • Assist with day-to-day cash management activities, trading initiatives, foreign exchange, loan activity, debt and equity capital markets
  • Evaluate public filings, research reports, operations, business plans, and financial forecasts to produce strategic and financial analyses
  • Develop an in-depth understanding of the business dynamics, client priorities and internal relationships with key product, risk and regional partners
Qualifications & Skills
  • Strong experience working in a corporate bank, financing or a capital markets / investment banking role
  • Prior experience in the Metals & Mining industry
  • Corporate Finance mindset with strong understanding of drivers of capital structure
  • Strong credit skills and experience executing episodic transactions
  • Quantitative, accounting and financial modelling skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, notably Excel and PowerPoint
  • Clear and concise written and verbal communication skills
  • Bachelor’s/University degree or equivalent experience; MBA or Master’s Degree in Business preferred
