Regular office hours are 08:00 – 16:00 Monday to Thursday with a half hour lunch break and 08:00 – 13:00 on a Friday. We offer daily flex-time start between 07:00 and 11:00, provided there is no business requirement.

While there is no contractual right to work from home, you can request to work from home 2 days per week, again subject to business needs.

Role

This role reports to the Corporate Audit Section Manager as part of the HME Corporate Audit (CA) team.

The purpose of CA is to support the Honda Motor Europe (HME) C.O & President in improving Honda’s overall European business as well as the Africa Middle East (AME) business operation, by providing independent objective assurance of the adequacy of control and the management of risk within HME, its branches and subsidiary companies in the EAME region. It helps HME & AME to accomplish its objectives by bringing a systematic, disciplined approach to evaluate and improve the effectiveness of risk management, controls, and governance processes. The CA function aims to challenge and test current operational processes, champion best practice and be a catalyst for business improvement.

As a Corporate Audit Specialist, you will be responsible for supporting the pre- and post-audit processes. Pre-audit, this involves carrying out the required preparations, reviewing the “As Is” situation by evaluating various business function operations, in line with the audit timeframe and internal KPI’s. Post-audit, this involves making recommendations and timely follow-ups to meet the audit finding closure targets. In addition, active participation during on-site audits may be necessary. Your support will enable the CA team to focus on coaching, especially for the AME region.

Ideally, you will need to have a good level of business and commercial acumen to support the different steps in the Audit process.

The successful candidate will quickly become an integral member of this small team as the necessary skills and experience are developed.

This role may require travel within the region (EAME).

Main Responsibilities
  • Proactively support for the delivery of Business Effectiveness & Efficiency audits and Honda Corporate Governance audits, for all operational and functional areas within Honda’s European and AME region (EAME). This involves contacting the auditees for pre-audit documentation, assisting in preparing audit schedule, arranging pre-audit stakeholder meetings, as well as pre-audit and final audit meetings to ensure everything is in place for the audit.
  • Provide support during specific times in the SOx audit process, by undertaking testing of SOx controls and identifying any deficiencies in controls.
  • Prepare reports for submission to Honda Motor Audit unit as well as reports to Honda Motor Executive Council & Board of Directors.
  • Prepare detailed audit reports including recommendations for improvement and proactively following up to meet the audit finding closure targets.
  • Review business processes and contribute towards process optimisation.
  • Maintain audit analysis methodology and identify areas for improvement.
  • Accurately log and actively manage audit closure rates.
  • Assist preparation of reports for the Regional Operating Board, Honda Motor Audit Division (Global Audit Meeting) etc.
  • Assist in updating the corporate audit risk matrix.
  • Help with consultancy/supplier audits when required.
  • Support to regularly review and update audit checklist when required.
Qualifications, skills and experience
  • Comprehensive understanding of the normal business processes.
  • Skilled verbal and written communicator at all levels within the company with the ability to present and discuss audit findings with senior management.
  • Demonstrated capability to develop and maintain business relationships.
  • Excellent organisational and prioritising skills with the ability to work individually to deliver specific improvements and/or projects.
  • Proven ability to maintain strict confidentiality regarding specific audit findings.
  • Strong focus on detail and ensuring accuracy in data and reporting documents.
Desirable
  • Formal audit qualification or working towards a qualification.
