What you'll do:

As a Corporate Audit Manager based in Reading, you will be entrusted with significant responsibility across all stages of the audit process for an impressive portfolio of corporate clients.

  • Oversee the planning, execution, and completion of audit assignments for corporate entities within agreed budgets and deadlines, ensuring all aspects meet the highest standards of quality.
  • Act as the principal point of contact for clients during on-site fieldwork, addressing queries promptly and maintaining strong professional relationships throughout each engagement.
  • Manage on-site teams by supervising junior staff members, allocating tasks according to abilities, providing coaching and feedback, and completing job review forms to support their ongoing development.
  • Review statutory financial statements prepared from client management accounts to ensure accuracy and compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Research technical issues as they arise during audits, proposing practical solutions for review by senior partners or directors.
  • Monitor progress on client assignments by managing work in progress and billing processes efficiently to ensure timely delivery of services.
  • Identify opportunities where other experts within the firm can add value or provide additional services to meet evolving client business needs.
  • Participate in business development activities such as pitch preparation and meetings, learning from experienced colleagues while expanding your own network of contacts.
  • Support the implementation of best practices in audit methodology by adhering strictly to deadlines and escalating any issues that may impact project delivery.
  • Undertake additional duties as reasonably required to contribute positively to the overall success of the audit division.
What you bring:

To excel as a Corporate Audit Manager in this forward-thinking organisation, you will bring substantial experience gained within audit functions serving corporate entities, ideally including exposure to both international groups and listed businesses.
  • Full membership of a CCAB body such as ICAEW, ACCA, ICAS, ICAI or AICPA is essential for this position.
  • Demonstrated experience managing audits for complex groups with varied reporting structures is highly desirable.
  • Proven ability to supervise teams effectively by coaching junior staff members towards maximum contribution and satisfaction.
  • Strong interpersonal skills enabling you to build rapport with clients quickly while responding empathetically to their needs.
  • Excellent organisational skills allowing you to manage multiple assignments simultaneously without compromising on quality or deadlines.
  • Thorough understanding of business cycle controls with the capacity to recognise risks when controls are absent or ineffective.
  • Ability to research technical issues independently and propose practical solutions for review by senior colleagues.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development through regular CPD activities relevant to your discipline or sector focus.
  • Clear communication style that avoids excessive jargon while presenting arguments persuasively both internally and externally.
  • Willingness to participate in business development activities by preparing pitches or attending meetings alongside more experienced colleagues.
