Job Description

The role is in the Emerging Market, Credit Derivatives and Fixed Income Financing Legal Team, focusing on providing legal coverage to the Credit Trading business regarding OTC derivatives and the Currencies and Emerging Markets business. The team advises on a broad range of transactions including emerging market financings, vanilla and bespoke credit default swaps, Shariah-compliant derivatives, cryptocurrency-related transactions, and represents J.P. Morgan on the EMEA Credit Derivatives Determinations Committee.

As a Vice President in Legal, you will advise on transactions across emerging markets, credit derivatives, and cryptocurrency-backed financing, addressing complex legal and regulatory issues, and partnering with the business to structure and negotiate transactions across jurisdictions. The role requires knowledge of UK and European derivatives law and regulation. The team is highly technical, offering an opportunity to work on innovative, market-leading transactions.

Responsibilities
  • Providing legal support and advice to the business.
  • Reviewing, negotiating, and drafting transaction documentation from inception to close.
  • Identifying and resolving legal and regulatory issues.
  • Managing relationships with external counsel and collaborating on cross-border transactions.
  • Coordinating with legal colleagues, Compliance, and other risk functions.
  • Advising on regulatory changes affecting the business.
  • Driving process improvements across coverage areas.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Licensed to practice law in England & Wales or similar jurisdiction.
  • 4+ PQE in derivatives/finance with strong drafting skills and familiarity with ISDA documentation.
  • Ability to understand complex structures.
  • Good judgment, risk awareness, and escalation skills.
  • Proactive, confident, and team-oriented.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Interest in transactional work and managing multiple transactions.
