Job description

The purpose of PIC is to pay the pensions of its current and future policyholders. PIC provides secure retirement incomes through comprehensive risk management and excellence in asset and liability management, as well as exceptional customer service.

At year-end 2024, we had insured 400,000 pension scheme members and had a portfolio of £50.9 billion, accumulated through the provision of tailored pension insurance buyouts and buy-ins to the trustees and sponsors of UK defined benefit pension schemes. We have made total pension payments of £16.2 billion to our policyholders and have invested £13.8 billion in UK private investments, including housing and infrastructure, creating considerable social value. Role purpose

  • This role sits within PIC’s communications function, which comprises the Corporate Affairs, Investor Relations, Internal Communications, Public Relations and Brand & Marketing activities. These teams are responsible for building, maintaining and protecting PIC’s reputation. This includes creating, producing and distributing content for PIC’s stakeholder base, including investors, policymakers, trustees of defined benefit pension schemes and their advisors, local authorities, and existing and potential investment counterparties, as well as PIC’s employees.
  • The role will be responsible for the successful delivery of PIC’s suite of key external corporate and thought leadership reports including managing, coordinating, and driving the publication of these reports. This includes the half-year and full-year report and accounts, sustainability report, investor presentation, and other investor reporting documents in line with the corporate governance code and corporate reporting best practice. It requires working closely with the finance function and the Financial Reporting Project Manager.
  • The role will identify and deliver efficiencies by working with the team on delivery of key thought leadership content and other deliverables. This can include end-to-end project management including working with key stakeholders on design, distribution, and any associated events.
  • The role requires the ability to effectively collaborate with a broad range of internal stakeholders across a variety of teams, including finance, strategy, risk, company secretarial, and legal, as well as key external stakeholders such as our retained design agency, in order to meet key deadlines.
  • Governance and compliance: Maintain close relationships with PIC control, compliance and risk functions (compliance, risk, regulatory affairs and internal audit) and act as a main point of contact in helping them to complete their activities relating to the corporate communications team.
  • Business Management and Management Information: Lead the corporate communications business area in its’ interactions with PIC’s support functions e.g. budgeting and accounts payable, recruitment, risk incident and breach reporting, assurance reviews and actions, business change and transformation. Take responsibility for and deliver improvements to existing MI processes.

Specific accountabilities assigned to the role of Corporate Communications Office – business lead within the Corporate Communications team

  • Lead the production of PIC’s suite of key external annual reports end-to-end, from initiation through to planning, designing and close, ensuring that all core objectives are delivered accurately on-time and on-budget.
  • Responsible for the successful delivery of PIC’s corporate reporting suite of publications
  • Full project management of all timetables and key deadlines between all internal and external stakeholders, including key responsibility for managing PIC’s external agency.
  • Accountable for ensuring there are transparent two-way communication processes with all core stakeholders so all understand what is expected of them and maintaining documented roles and responsibilities for all major projects. Overall project management accountability, including chairing regular project meetings, ensuring key stakeholders are aware of project progress, acting as key control for the design related tasks and managing overall project budget.

Knowledge

  • High proficiency in written communications including proofreading, editing, shortform and longform copy
  • Established knowledge of other communication skills including verbal and presentation skills, specifically around adapting to the audience
  • Intermediate knowledge of MS office suite
  • Some knowledge of corporate reporting regulations including the corporate governance code and best practice

Experience

  • Experience project managing cross-functional activities in a corporate environment
  • Experience of delivering reports through Workiva and CtrlPrint
  • Experience working in a corporate environment preferably in financial services
