We are looking for a committed, professional and compassionate individual to join our team as a Coroner's Officer. This is a challenging and rewarding role at the heart of the coronial service, supporting HM Coroners in the investigation of deaths reported to the Coroner.

As a Coroner's Officer, you will manage a diverse caseload of investigations, liaise with bereaved families, medical professionals, police, legal representatives and other partner agencies, and ensure that investigations are progressed professionally, sensitively and within statutory timescales. You will gather and assess information, prepare cases for inquest, and support court hearings, including jury inquests where required.
The successful candidate will possess excellent communication, organisational and ICT skills, together with the ability to analyse information, make sound decisions and manage sensitive situations with empathy and professionalism. Experience within a coronial, legal, medical, investigative or bereavement-related environment would be advantageous.
Sandwell Metropolitan Borough Council is the Relevant Authority for the Black Country Coroners Service, covering the boroughs of Dudley, Sandwell, Walsall and Wolverhampton.
