Help keep critical infrastructure running

We're looking for a proactive, self-motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our Operational Technology (OT) Core Systems Team on a permanent basis.

This is a hands-on technical role in a team responsible for the systems that underpin our 24/7 operational technology estate for data gathering and remote asset control. You'll support and maintain one of the largest and most complex OT systems in the UK water industry, operating in a safety-critical, highly regulated environment.

What we're looking for

We're particularly interested in candidates with experience or transferable skills in any of the following areas:
  • SQL - maintaining telemetry databases, supporting data queries and extract processes
  • Python - developing internal tooling, automation, and system support scripts
  • Cloud platform management (preferably Azure) - especially for telemetry workloads or supporting infrastructure
  • Enterprise networking - understanding secure IP communications, VPNs, firewalls, and network diagnostics
  • PowerShell scripting - automating routine tasks and managing system processes efficiently
If you have experience in some of these areas and are eager to develop in others, we'd still love to hear from you.

Experience with GeoSCADA or other enterprise SCADA systems is highly desirable but not essential. We also welcome applicants from software development, SQL database administration, or infrastructure engineering backgrounds who are looking to apply their skills in a technically challenging, safety-critical and regulated environment.

You'll thrive in this role if you are forward-thinking, analytical and collaborative, with strong communication skills and a desire to make a real impact in a mission-critical area of the business.

What you'll be doing

As part of the OT Core Systems Team, you'll:
  • Ensure reliable telemetry data collection from thousands of remote assets
  • Monitor system health and performance, including cloud-hosted components and data interfaces
  • Investigate and resolve data flow issues, system alarms, and communications problems using tools such as PowerShell, SQL and Python
  • Support and guide users of GeoSCADA and other telemetry applications
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external vendors to resolve complex issues across our telemetry ecosystem
  • Take ownership of technical initiatives - from identifying opportunities to delivering meaningful improvements across systems and processes
  • Proactively seek out ways to enhance resilience, performance and functionality, contributing to the continuous improvement of our critical infrastructure
  • Participate in a 24/7 standby rota, providing out-of-hours support to maintain telemetry system availability and respond to critical incidents
As a valued employee, you'll be entitled to:
  • Full private healthcare with no excess
  • 26 days leave, rising with service + Bank Holidays, with the option to swap Christmas and Easter holidays for those celebrated by your religion
  • A flexible working culture
  • Competitive pension scheme - we double-match your contributions up to 6%
  • Life Assurance at eight times your salary
  • Personal Accident cover - up to 5x your salary
  • Bonus Scheme
  • Lots of great discounts
  • Flexible benefits to support your wellbeing and lifestyle
  • Paid time off when you're physically and mentally unwell
  • An excellent Family Leave package - to help you support your family
If you are offered a job with us, you'll be subject to the relevant/standard employment checks, including: your right to work in the UK, reference, driving licence and identity check. Depending on your role, you may also be subject to further pre-employment checks.

We look forward to hearing from you!
