Job Description: Credit Strats Director at HSBC

Our Commercial Banking business serves over a million customers across more than 50 markets, providing tools and expertise for businesses to thrive, ranging from small enterprises to large corporates involved in global trade.

We are seeking an experienced individual to join our team as a Credit Strats Director.

This role focuses on optimizing capital use and managing credit risk within a complex regulatory environment. You will lead initiatives to develop tools leveraging our capital models to enhance our business strategy and deepen our understanding of risk profiles.

In this role, you will:

  1. Build an industry-leading credit platform in the Felis, the Wholesale Analytics platform, ensuring successful program delivery.
  2. Partner with Product specialists across regions, including Wholesale Credit and Lending, GRA, regional Heads of CMB / Coverage, IT, Wholesale Data, Business Finance & Compliance, to optimize models for regional market conditions.
  3. Design and develop next-generation tools to serve clients better and increase revenue across regions.
  4. Achieve consensus among senior stakeholders on technical issues and drive best-in-class credit analytics to support revenue targets.
  5. Provide thought leadership in credit framework design and calibration.
  6. Collaborate with client-facing teams to design capital and resource-efficient products and monitor their performance.

To succeed, you should have:

  • Broad banking experience in financial services, especially in credit, rates, or cash management markets.
  • Proven leadership in managing an established strats team.
  • Strong numeracy skills and hands-on coding experience with languages such as Python or C++.
  • Excellent communication skills for engaging with senior management and stakeholders.
  • Strong influencing, negotiation, and conflict resolution abilities.
  • A result-oriented, collaborative approach to building stakeholder partnerships.
