Job description

We are seeking an experienced, motivated, proactive, compassionate, and enthusiastic Band 6 midwife to join our core team on a 9-month fixed-term/secondment basis.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Manage the general running of the ward, supporting Midwives, MCA/MSW, Receptionists, and Modern Housekeepers.
  2. Oversee all women and staff on a 61-bed maternity ward caring for antenatal, postnatal women, and women undergoing induction of labour.
  3. Work closely with other hospital departments, including PAU and Labour Ward, to maintain bed flow.
  4. Collaborate with the MDT team, including obstetricians, neonatologists, anaesthetists, physiotherapists, and audiologists.
  5. Support staff with clinical guidelines and implement practice changes.
  6. Ensure safeguarding protocols are followed and work with the safeguarding team to protect vulnerable women and babies.
  7. Maintain stock levels, including medicines, and communicate regularly with Pharmacy.
  8. Escalate concerns appropriately to managers, matron, or consultants.
