Job description
Overview

Frimley Health Foundation Trust is one of the largest acute Trusts in the South, with the Wexham Park Hospital site seeking a St1-2/FY2/3 level doctor to join the ENT department for a year. This is a full-time role with weekend and night shifts, fully compliant with the EWTD.

Responsibilities
  • Be part of a junior doctor on-call rota (currently 1:6).
  • See patients from Accident and Emergency, on wards, or direct from GP referrals.
  • Based mainly in Clinic, supported by middle and senior grades.
  • Perform procedures such as cautery, nasendoscopy, aural microscopy, etc.
  • Access to theatre if pursuing a career in surgery.
  • Engage with specialist clinics and theatres within the ENT department, which includes otology, rhinology, voice, and head & neck work.
Department and Team

The ENT Department has 4 full-time consultants (+ one locum). The non-consultant staff includes 2 specialty doctors, 2 deanery registrars, 2 core surgical trainees, and 6 junior grades (a mix of FY2 and GP VTS trainees where this fixed-term post will reside). The post offers opportunities for monthly audit sessions, teaching, and theatre involvement, contributing to career progression.

  • Initial Specialty Training grade: St1-2/FY2/3 level.
  • Full-time role with weekend and night duties.
  • Compliant with the European Work Time Directive (EWTD).
  • Interest in ENT and/or General Practice with opportunities to develop skills relevant to either path.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work within a team.

While the post is not Deanery-recognised, it provides high-quality ENT training with opportunities to participate in monthly audits, teaching, and theatre.
