Job description

About The Role

HCR Law has grown considerably over recent years, and we were recently recognised as one of the UK’s fastest-growing law firms.

The Central Marketing Team (CMT) plays a key role in supporting the firm on their growth ambitions. To effectively engage our target audience, our messaging must stand out and resonate. This requires strategic planning and creative excellence in execution.

We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Copywriter to join our Central Marketing Team (CMT). This role offers an exciting opportunity to work across a variety of communication channels within a professional services environment, contributing to external content initiatives. As a specialist role within CMT, you will support the planning, writing and editing, proofreading, and management of written content, ensuring consistency with our house style and strategic objectives.

You will collaborate with senior stakeholders, liaise with various departments, and manage competing deadlines across multiple projects, all while upholding the high standards and tone of voice expected of a leading UK law firm.

Key Responsibilities

  • Content Review and Quality Assurance: Review a variety of content, including website articles, press releases, and marketing materials, ensuring alignment with the firm’s brand, style, and strategic positioning. Provide constructive feedback to improve quality and impact.
  • Content Creation & Thought Leadership: Collaborate with members of the CMT and fee earning teams to create compelling thought leadership content. Support the development of articles, reports, and other publications that showcase the firm's expertise, insights, and industry knowledge, cementing the reputation of the firm. This may include suggesting legal topics that will generate interest, researching topics in depth, collating data or third-party content to support a position, and interviewing and writing content authored by fee earners.
  • Website Profiles: Conduct desktop research and work closely with hiring managers and new joiners to uncover niche or specialist points of difference, gather the necessary information and craft engaging, accurate profiles for the firm’s website that showcase our people. Ensure timely drafting and approval of profiles to maintain an up-to-date online presence.
  • Proofreading and Editing: Proofread and edit a variety of marketing materials, ensuring that all content is error-free, clear, and concise. Maintain the highest standards of accuracy, grammar, and consistency in all written communications.
  • Stakeholder Management: Engage with senior stakeholders across the firm to scope and understand their content needs and be a trusted advisor on what the best tactical execution could be, supported with data.
  • Press Releases: Collaborate with the Head of Marketing & Business Development to draft and refine press releases, ensuring that all content is aligned with the firm’s strategic messaging and objectives.
  • Award Submissions: Assist with the writing and editing of award entries, ensuring that submissions are well-written, compelling, and aligned with the firm’s strengths and achievements. Contribute to the strategic positioning of the firm through awards and recognitions.
  • Advertising and Advertorial Copy Creation: Write and edit engaging advertising copy for both long-form advertorials and short-form advertisements. Ensure the content is compelling, aligns with the firm's brand voice, and resonates with the target audience across various platforms, including print, digital, and social media.
