Semester Recruitment is working with Cheshire West and Chester Council, who are seeking a dedicated, resilient, and experienced Supervising Social Worker to join their Connected People’s Team, based at The Portal, Ellesmere Port.

This vital role involves supporting family and friends carers – including Special Guardians – through assessments and supervision, prioritizing children’s wellbeing and safety.

Responsibilities include conducting robust, timely assessments of connected carers, often within court-directed timeframes.

You will provide ongoing support, advice, and supervision to family and friends carers and Special Guardians, work with complex care proceedings, and contribute to permanence planning for children.

Collaboration with courts, legal teams, and children’s social workers is essential.

Some travel out-of-county may be required, including occasional overnight stays.

Promoting safe and stable care arrangements for children with known carers is a key part of the role.

Qualifications include being a Social Worker with current Social Work England registration.

Experience in fostering, court work, or permanence planning is preferred.

You should have strong knowledge of care proceedings, SGO processes, and connected carers assessments.

Ability to produce high-quality reports and work to tight deadlines is important.
