Job Description

Unfortunately, we are unable to offer visa sponsorship for this role.

This is a great opportunity to join our Food Testing Microbiology laboratory in Needham Market. The purpose of this post is to complete, to the required quality standards, the analysis of samples for a given method using laboratory techniques. Further, assist in the efficient day-to-day operation of the laboratory.

Please note this is a full time position working 37.5 hours per week . There are two shift patterns available:

  • Monday to Friday 09:00 till 17:00.
  • Tuesday to Saturday 09:00 - 17:00

Laboratory experience is not essential for this role, as full training will be provided.

  • Undertaking all tasks within the main laboratory appropriate to the level of training given to you by team leaders and management.
  • Registration, preparation, and analysis of food samples as required.
  • Adhering to documented procedures for all aspects of laboratory work, ensuring that all relevant information concerning samples is recorded, that samples are handled correctly, and that all necessary records and quality data are maintained.
  • Ensure all relevant paperwork is completed throughout the day.
  • Provide a high level of internal and external customer care.
  • Maintain turnaround time at >99%, ensuring that daily targets are achieved.
  • Responsible for ensuring that UK health and safety legislation is maintained and helping to ensure that the working environment is kept in a clean and tidy manner.
  • Ensure personal protective clothing equipment is worn in accordance with the Health & Safety policy.
  • Work with the team to drive the laboratory forward through continuous improvement.
  • To assist through operating best practice in order to meet the requirements of the UKAS accreditation standard.
  • Maintain a clean as you go mentality.
  • A flexible approach to work will be required to assist other departments as and when required.
  • Assist with continuous improvement within the microbiology department.
Qualifications
  • Educated to GCSE level or equivalent.
  • Experience in working in part of a team.
  • Good organisation and time management.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to self-motivate.
