Job Description:

Job Purpose
Assist the manager with the procurement of Terminal and Port Services in Europe and Africa.

Primary Job Responsibilities and Measurement

Strategy implementation and optimisation

  • Execute and enhance procurement strategies for Alliance and non-Alliance services based on GHQ policy and directions.
  • Ensure access to competitive rates and services by maximising leverage.
  • Participate in performance review meetings with Terminal and Port Services operators.
  • Provide recommendations on EDI and priority setting.

Terminal and Port Services Procurement

  • Coordinate vendor negotiations and provide market intelligence and business opportunities related to Terminal and Port Services.
  • Handle OOG Terminal handling pricing.
  • Maintain relationships with main vendors and local organizations to optimize costs and service quality.
  • Identify cost-saving initiatives.
  • Finalize contracts and service agreements.

Cost Control / Management

  • Supervise reporting structures and guide towards targets.
  • Optimize and communicate free pools.
  • Identify and report avoidable costs.
  • Ensure reporting of contractual rebates and incentives.
  • Support budget control.
  • Monitor KPIs for stakeholders.
  • Promote cost avoidance and recovery mindset.

Compliance

  • Ensure transactions comply with company rules and regulations such as UK Bribery Act.
  • Understand JSOX, ISO14001, and AEO procedures.

Data Management

  • Monitor data accuracy in company systems, including tariff agreements and VRM records.

Role Scope

  • Work within set budgets for Terminal and Port Services costs.
  • Ensure regional practices meet business requirements.

People Management

  • Support colleagues and foster an enabling environment.
  • Assist team in achieving targets and KPIs.
  • Maintain relationships with regional offices, agents, and vendors.

Position, Qualifications, and Requirements

  • Minimum degree education preferred.
  • At least three years procurement and operations experience in Europe preferred.
  • Strong operational and commercial awareness.
  • Ability to build relationships internally and externally.
  • Analytical, methodical, and team-oriented.
  • Skills in leadership, business awareness, customer focus, communication, problem-solving, planning, innovation, teamwork, and performance management.
