Job summary

Northumberland County Council’s Tynedale House in Blyth is seeking a part-time Cook to join the catering team. The permanent 24.5-hour role offers shifts 8am–4pm on a two-week rota.

You will prepare meals, handle food preparation and cooking, and support diets and food safety. A basic food hygiene certificate and knowledge of catering equipment are required, with training provided.

We offer £13.26/hour and a benefits package including 26 days leave and Local Government Pension Scheme.

Qualifications

• A basic food hygiene certificate and knowledge of the tasks and operation of catering tools and equipment.
• Knowledge of Health and Safety and training in Manual Handling is also required.
• Relevant kitchen experience including food preparation and cooking; willing to learn and prepare meals for specialised diets.

Tynedale House is a residential home rated Outstanding by CQC and provides excellent support and care to people with learning disabilities in both residential and respite settings.

Weare looking for anenthusiastic and passionate individual to join our cateringteam as a cook.

You must have

• A basic food hygiene certificate and knowledge of the tasks and operation of catering tools and equipment.
• Knowledge of Health and Safety and training in Manual Handling is alsorequired.

Additional training and support will be offered to any successful candidate.

You should have relevant experience of working in a kitchen to include food preparation, cooking and be willing to learn to/and prepare meals for specialised diets.

This is a permanent position for 24.5 hours per week.
This post is based on a shift pattern, working 7 hour shifts from 8am- 4pm (1hr lunch break), on 2-week rota:
Week one:Mon, Tues, Sat, Sun
Week two:Wed, Thur, Fri
Enhancements are payable on this rota for weekend and bank holiday hours worked.

We are offering: A starting salary of £13.26 per hour
£25,583 - £25,989 FTE (£16,940 - £17,208 pro rata salary)
