Job summary

Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board in North Wales is seeking a Cook Team Leader to manage meal production and service for patients, staff and visitors. You will work with catering supervisors and managers to meet dietary and nutritional needs in a busy hospital kitchen.

The role requires City & Guilds 706/1, 706/2 or equivalent and Level 2 Food Hygiene; experience in hospital catering is advantageous. Welsh language skills are desirable; English and Welsh speakers are welcome to apply.

Qualifications

  • City & Guilds 706/1 and 706/2 or equivalent qualifications are required.
  • Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate or willingness to work towards on commencement.
  • Experience as a Chef, catering for large numbers is advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook meals from base and raw ingredients.
  • Support Catering Supervisors in day-to-day supervision of staff.
  • Maintain a clean, safe kitchen environment.
  • Be flexible with shift patterns and work unsupervised when needed.

Job description

This post will provide cover for Ysbyty Gwynedd, Ysbyty Cefni , Ysbyty Penrhos Stanley and Ysbyty Eryri, to cover staff and provide a patient meal service. The Catering Department at Ysbyty Gwynedd Hospital provide meals, snacks and beverages to patients, staff and visitors. The Cook Team Leader is a key member of the team and has responsibility for carrying a range of duties related to food production and service in a busy kitchen environment. The Cook Team Leader will be working closely with Catering Supervisors, Catering Co-ordinator and managers to ensure that Catering Services meet relevant nutritional and dietary requirements arising from clinical, religious and cultural needs., The Cook Team Leader's responsibilities will include: Preparing and cooking meals from base and raw ingredients.Supporting Catering Supervisors in the day to day supervision of staff,Ensuring a clean safe environment is maintained., You will be able to find a full Job description and Person Specification attached within the supporting documents.

We are seeking an enthusiastic, reliable and motivated individual who has City & Guilds 706/1, 706/2 or equivalent qualifications plus Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate or work towards on commencement. Experience of working as a Chef, catering for large numbers would be of advantage., The Cook Team Leader needs to have good teamwork, leadership, communication and organisational skills. They need to be self-motivated, be able to work unsupervised, have a flexible approach to shift alterations and have a friendly and professional approach., The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
