Job summary

Borough Kitchen is seeking a skilled Cook School Chef to lead engaging cooking classes and demonstrations in London venues including Battersea, Chiswick, Hampstead and Islington. You’ll share your passion for ingredients, techniques and recipes, building customers’ confidence in the kitchen and creating a welcoming experience for all guests.

You’ll be a confident communicator with a love of teaching; teaching experience is useful but not essential.

Qualifications

• Excellent cooking skills and knowledge of multiple cuisines and techniques.
• Proven experience as a professional chef or culinary instructor.
• Passion for food and ability to share knowledge with guests.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills for teaching and guest interaction.

Responsibilities

• Host guests in a warm, friendly environment and deliver engaging cooking classes.
• Explain not just how, but why techniques work to build guests' confidence.
• Prepare classes with ingredients and equipment, ensuring cleanliness and safety.
• Deliver high-quality demonstrations and hands-on sessions.
• Provide excellent customer service and answer guests’ questions.
• Maintain a clean, organized cooking area and adhere to food hygiene standards.
• Assist in class setup and post-class cleanup with the Cook School Assistant.

Job description

Hours: 12 to 30 hours per week, Monday to Saturday. Availability in the afternoon and evening is required.

Location: Battersea, Chiswick, Hampstead and Islington

About the role

Borough Kitchen is looking for a skilled and passionate Cook School Chef to join our team. In this role, you’ll lead engaging, high-quality cooking classes and demonstrations, building our customers’ confidence in the kitchen while sharing your knowledge of ingredients, techniques and recipes.

We’re looking for someone who feels at home in the kitchen and enjoys sharing that with others. You’re a confident communicator who likes explaining not just how things are done, but why. Teaching experience is useful, but not essential. What matters most is your enthusiasm for food and your ability to create a welcoming, relaxed and inspiring experience for our guests.

Key responsibilities:

• Host our guests in a warm and friendly environment

• Prepare cooking classes, ensuring all ingredients and equipment are ready with a focus on cleanliness, safety, and efficiency
• Deliver engaging and informative cooking classes and demonstrations
• Host our guests in a warm and friendly environment
• Provide excellent customer service, answering any questions and ensuring a positive experience for guests
• Maintain a clean and organised cooking area
• Adhere to food safety and hygiene standards
• Clean down after classes together with the Cook School Assistant

• Excellent cooking skills and knowledge of various cuisines and techniques
• Proven experience as a professional chef or culinary instructor
• Passion for food and cooking, with a desire to share knowledge and inspire others
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work well in a team environment
• Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed
• Food hygiene and safety certification is a plus
