Job summary

Greycoat Lumleys seeks a dedicated Live-In Cook / Housekeeper in Alderley Edge. You will handle family cooking, daily housekeeping, laundry and occasional childcare while living in a one-bedroom apartment. The role includes light driving support and occasional pet care for a busy family.

Accommodation is provided; 40 hours per week with some flexibility when the family is in residence. Starting salary around £50,000+ per year depending on experience.

Qualifications

• Experience cooking for a family and informal entertaining up to 12 people.
• Proven housekeeping, laundry and ironing skills in a private home.
• Full clean driving licence and willingness to travel occasionally.
• DBS check and excellent references required.

Live In Cook / Housekeeper job Alderley Edge Cheshire – 31st January 2027 start - £50,000+ GPA + 1 bed apartment accommodation

We are working on a great opportunity on an exclusive basis for an experienced Cook / Housekeeper to work for a busy family in Alderley Edge. You will be looking after a newly renovated property which will be completed to the highest of standards and will be one of the most impressive homes in the area once completed.

This will be a hands-on role, and a part-time cleaner will be employed who will take care of the day-to-day cleaning and ironing so this role will be focused on family cooking, housekeeping, laundry, household management and family driving.

The family travel for around 10 weeks of the year when you will not be required to carry out full duties so this could be taken as extended paid leave, but the family will require some additional flexibility in return when they are in residence.

The house itself is well appointed in the village and the accommodation offered is a self-contained one-bedroom apartment with access to a beautiful roof terrace and use of the leisure facilities when the family are not in residence.

Main duties will include:

• Cooking – daily cooking of a home cooked healthy evening meal – good quality family cooking. You will also be required to cater for occasional informal business working lunches. Occasionally the clients will also entertain friends and family, so you need to be confident in cooking for up to 12 people to informal dinner party standard, perhaps Roast Dinners and summer outdoor entertaining. It would also be great if you were happy to spend some time in the kitchen with the children teaching them basic cooking skills. All menu planning, shopping and preparation. Keeping the kitchen area clean and tidy and fridges well stocked with food and drinks.
• Driving – supporting Mum with picking up and dropping off children to and from school, friends houses and parties.
• Housekeeping – to include keeping on top of tidying the house on the days when the cleaner is not working. Helping with the occasional bit of family ironing although the bulk of this will be covered. Daily laundry for the family – a fully commercial laundry is installed. Bed making daily. Loading and unloading the dishwasher.
• Additional duties to include – seasonally keeping outside areas and furniture clean and tidy, refuse management, collecting post and deliveries, coordinating servicing of household vehicles and household utilities (including meter readings) and overseeing trades and contractors.
• Childcare – very occasional overnight care of the youngest school age child and babysitting.
• Must be happy to work around a dog and help with dog care and walking.

Holidays will need to be taken whilst the family are away (around 10 weeks per year) and you may be required to travel with the family for one week per year.

Accommodation is provided as a self-contained one-bedroom apartment – all bills paid by the employer. You can leave the accommodation (live out) on your days off if this is preferred otherwise it can be a permanent residence. Live out also considered for the right candidate.

Confident driver essential – car provided for work use.

Working hours will be based around 40 hours per week over 5 days taking off Sunday and Monday although some flexibility will be required when the family are in residence (with the extended holiday offered to balance)

Salary starting at £50,000 gpa depending on experience.
