Job summary

Mortimer House School in Tamworth is seeking a dedicated Cook/Housekeeper to manage daily cooking and housekeeping tasks. The role combines meal preparation with cleaning and upkeep to a high standard, supporting a safe and welcoming environment for students and staff.

The successful candidate will work 40 hours per week, 9:30am–4:30pm, on a permanent contract, with a salary of £23,995.69 to £25,029.52 per year. Benefits include career development and a supportive team ethos.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve meals following agreed menus and dietary requirements.
• Oversee servery, washing, setting up and clearing tables and kitchen cleaning.
• Receive and store goods, manage stock, complete monitoring sheets and report discrepancies.
• Maintain high cleanliness standards throughout the building and respect privacy of staff.
• Handle COSHH-related items safely and follow food hygiene regulations; keep records of temperatures and stock.
• Ensure cleaning supplies are restocked and areas are kept tidy, informing Head Teacher as needed.

As a Cook/Housekeeper your duties will be:

You will start your day as our cook and finish with housekeeping duties.

• The preparation of cooking and service of food and beverages accommodating any special dietary requirements and following agreed menus, packing of meals for transport to other locations where appropriate.
• Control of the servery, washing up, setting up and clearing away equipment and tables and cleaning of the kitchen, surrounding area and equipment.
• Receipt and safe storage of goods, stock control, stocktaking and completion of monitoring sheets reporting any discrepancies to the Headteacher.
• Maintaining high standard of cleanliness throughout the building as directed by the Head Teacher, whilst always respecting the privacy of the staff within the offices and being mindful of any private meetings and conversations taking place.
• Safe use, handling and storage of all COSHH related agents and reporting any maintenance issues. Always follow food hygiene and safety regulations. Assist in maintaining accurate records of food storage temperatures, cleaning rotas, and stock levels.
• To ensure that cleaning aids are restocked as appropriate at the end of a shift and cleaning cupboards are left clean and tidy. To take responsibility of ensuring we are always fully stocked and to inform the Head Teacher as and when required.
