Job summary

Spark of Genius is seeking a caring Housekeeper/Cook for a children's residential home in Kirkintilloch. You will cook nutritious meals, maintain high kitchen hygiene and support housekeeping duties to create a safe, welcoming environment.

Responsibilities

• Cook balanced meals and snacks tailored to dietary needs.
• Maintain high food hygiene and kitchen cleanliness.
• Store, label and rotate food safely.
• Plan menus within budgets.
• Record temperatures and log kitchen data.
• Prepare buffets or meals on short notice.
• Clean bedrooms and shared areas to a high standard.
• Follow infection-control procedures.
• Report maintenance issues promptly.
• Carry out occasional deep cleans when required.

Monday to Friday, 10am or 11am start to 5pm or 6pm

£23,933 based on 35 hours per week

About the role

We’re looking for a caring and well-organised Housekeeper/Cook to join our children’s residential home. You’ll help create a warm, welcoming setting by maintaining high cleaning standards and preparing nutritious meals that support our children’s health and wellbeing.

What you’ll do?

Cooking

• Prepare and cook balanced meals and snacks, tailored to individual dietary needs and allergies
• Maintain excellent standards of food hygiene and kitchen cleanliness
• Safely store, label and rotate food in line with regulations
• Plan menus within agreed budgets
• Record temperatures and complete kitchen log sheets
• Prepare buffets or meals at short notice when needed

Housekeeping

• Clean bedrooms and shared areas to a high standard
• Follow routines, policies and infection-control procedures
• Safely store hazardous materials (COSHH)
• Keep bathrooms stocked and spotless
• Report maintenance issues promptly
• Carry out occasional deep cleans when required

About you

• Experience in a catering or housekeeping environment.
