Job description

Job Title: Second Chef

Hours: 30 hours per week, shift pattern 07:00am-13:00pm or 13:00pm-19:00pm, 5 days per week

We are currently recruiting a Second Chef to join our Hospitality team. Working as a Second Chef at Runwood Homes, you will have the opportunity to deliver hotel/restaurant standards without split shifts and long hours. We seek warm, motivated, and passionate chefs who prioritize quality and high standards, to deliver person-centred hospitality to our residents. Key Responsibilities:

  1. Maintain high standards in all stages of food preparation, ensuring the well-being of residents.
  2. Prepare and serve meals according to the menu and company requirements.
  3. Comply with Food Safety & Hygiene (England) Regulations 2013 / Food Hygiene Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2006.
  4. Ensure meals are presented well and taste is of high quality.
  5. Maintain portion control procedures to minimize waste.
  6. Meet individual dietary requirements (e.g., high calorie, low sugar) by following appropriate recipes and adapting dishes as needed.
  7. Maintain systems and checks to ensure a safe, healthy, and efficient working environment.
  8. Store food and other items correctly.
  9. Monitor stock levels, rotate stock effectively, and place orders when necessary.
  10. Deputise for the Head Chef as required.

Experience & Qualifications:

  1. Relevant catering experience.
  2. NVQ Level 2 or City & Guilds equivalent.
  3. Team player with effective communication skills.
  4. Understanding of dietary and nutritional requirements and methods to meet them.
  5. Genuine interest in working within a caring environment.
  6. Satisfactory police check and ISA list check (if applicable).
  7. Basic understanding of the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974.
