Job summary

Ark Nursery School in Stamford is seeking a Cook Assistant to support the nursery kitchen during periods of leave or absence. You will work with the Nursery Cook to prepare nutritious meals for children while upholding strict hygiene and safety standards.

The role requires Level 2 Food and Hygiene qualification, experience in a commercial kitchen, and familiarity with Health and Safety and COSHH guidelines. Flexible, reliable team player is essential.

Qualifications

• Level 2 Food and Hygiene qualified cook with understanding of nursery kitchen safety.
• Solid understanding of Health and Safety regulations and COSHH.

How you’ll spend your time here

As a Cook Assistant, you will provide essential support during periods of leave, absence, or when additional help is needed. Working closely with the Nursery Cook, you’ll assist in preparing nutritious, freshly made meals while maintaining the highest standards of safety and hygiene in the nursery kitchen at all times. Your flexibility and reliability will ensure the smooth operation of the kitchen during these periods.

Day to day you will find yourself;

• Catering for children with specific dietary needs
• Working to an extremelyhigh level when it comes to the relevantFood and Hygiene,Chartered Institute of Environmental Health-Food Safety, Health and Safety and Ofsted guidelines and regulations
• Ensuring thatall children have rich stimulating eating experiences
• Maintaining stock levels and ensuring stock rotation
• Following COSHH and other relevant guidelines
• Deputising for the permanent Nursery Cook in all absences with the expectation of deputising full time when this is required
