Job summary

Holmes Care Group in Glasgow is hiring a Cook to provide nutritious, home-cooked meals for residents while upholding strict cleanliness and safety standards.

You will handle menu planning, accommodate dietary needs, supervise kitchen staff, manage stock, and ensure records are complete.

Applicants should have prior cook experience, Food Hygiene Certificates, and be familiar with Scotland's care home regulations.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Cook in a care or catering environment.
• Ability to meet dietary requirements and dietary restrictions.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve nutritious home-cooked meals for residents.
• Maintain kitchen cleanliness and food safety standards.
• Stock control and ordering; manage supplies.
• Ensure documentation and health and safety records are up to date.
• Coach and support kitchen staff in daily tasks.

What does the day of a Cook look like?

Our Cooks play a key role in serving nutritious home cooked meals, whilst also maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness and health and safety:

Producing varied, tasty menus for our residents, whilst also considering individual dietary requirements

To provide special diets where necessary

Cleaning and washing up after meals and ensuring the overall cleanliness of the kitchen

Preparing and serving meals

Guiding and coaching the kitchen team

Stock control; stock replenishing/ordering

Managing Food Health and Safety requirements, ensuring all necessary documentation is completed and up to date

To be considered for this role you will need to have experience working as a Cook, with the ability to accommodate a variety of dietary requirements. In addition, we expect you to hold all the relevant qualifications and Food Hygiene Certificates, and that you are aware of all the relevant regulations.
