Job description

About the role

The Cook will be responsible for preparing and cooking food to deliver a high-quality dining experience for customers.

As a Cook, your tasks will include, but are not limited to:

  1. Providing fast and efficient service to minimize wait times.
  2. Ensuring food preparation and presentation meet established standards.
  3. Maintaining appropriate stock levels for continuous kitchen operation.
  4. Minimizing food wastage through careful planning and portion control.
  5. Preparing food in advance, following proper preservation or freezing procedures.
  6. Customizing food preparation and recipes to accommodate customer preferences and dietary requirements.
  7. Identifying and addressing potential hazards to ensure safety and compliance.
  8. Adhering to hygiene and safety regulations in line with New Zealand health and safety guidelines.
  9. Maintaining cleanliness and sanitation of the kitchen and equipment.
  10. Reporting incidents or concerns promptly to the Manager.
  11. Following standard cooking procedures and seeking approval from the Head Chef for modifications.
  12. Providing guidance and demonstrating cooking techniques to team members as directed by the Head Chef.
  13. Undertaking additional tasks as reasonably requested by the Supervisor to support kitchen operations.
Qualifications, Experience, and Attributes
  • Level 4 or higher qualification in a similar field or at least 2 years of experience as a Cook.
  • Excellent food hygiene practices.
  • High standard of personal hygiene and presentation.
  • Ability to thrive in a small, high-paced, and high-volume environment.
  • Punctuality, organization, and multitasking skills with attention to detail.
  • Effective communication skills as a team player.
  • Flexibility to work varied shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Pay & Benefits
  • Full-time permanent employment.
