A local government organisation in Lockerbie is seeking a Cook 2 to manage the kitchen at Lockerbie Academy & Primary School. The role involves overseeing kitchen operations, maintaining quality standards, and ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations. You will be required to work 27.50 hours per week, 38 weeks per year.

Cook 2 required to assist the Catering Manager of a large school kitchen.
You must have a year's supervisory experience as well as cooking skills/experience. You must have the ability to motivate and direct a small team and work on your own initiative.
Part of your duties within this role will include the following:
Organising the day-to-day running of this kitchen, ordering of supplies, control of portion sizes, rota management, ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines, follow procedures.
Be able to approach problem management with ease
Deal with any complaint
Having knowledge of the following would be beneficial to this post:
Evaluating food costs, menu planning, managing the kitchen budget
H.A.S.A.W. and CookSafe, computer skills.
Also be aware of the current food trends and customer awareness.
This post is considered as Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. From 28 February 2011, preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG scheme update check prior to formal offer of employment being made by Dumfries and Galloway Council.
Applicants who have been resident outside the UK within the last 5 years, if offered a position, in addition to a Disclosure Scotland Check, will be required to provide a completed police record check from the police authority in the country or countries in which they were resident.
