A community kitchen service in West Bromwich is seeking a Cook to prepare healthy meals and supervise kitchen staff and volunteers. This role involves meal planning, adherence to food safety standards, and participating in team meetings. Candidates should have relevant experience and knowledge of hygiene regulations. Job Summary:
To provide healthy and well-balanced African Caribbean and European meals to people who use the charities services and members of the public. In the absence of the Head Cook you will undertake the day to day planning, preparation cooking and serving of meals provided by the kitchen.
Responsibilities:
1. Purchasing foodstuffs, storing, preparing, and cooking meals for people who use the charities services.
2. Supervise Kitchen Assistant, placements, and volunteers in our kitchen
3. Ensure that Food and Hygiene, Environmental Health Regulations and procedures are adhered to.
4. Support the Kitchen Assistant and placements/volunteers to clean equipment in the kitchen and including fixtures and fittings.
5. Complete stock takes, and ensure the storeroom is always kept tidy.
6. Reporting of any maintenance issues, breakages, faults or repair and faults that occur in the kitchen to the Health and Well Being Divisional Manager.
7. Maintenance and repairs to equipment is carried out through approved suppliers.
8. Complete and updating relevant records e.g. cleaning records temperature sheets, food calibration Chart, Better Catering Better Business
9. Preparation cooking and serving of foods
10. Planning and updating of nutritionally well-balanced weekly menus
11. Check client’s labels (for specified dietary requirements) and delivery sheets to ensure they are correct
12. Attendance at team and staff meetings.
13. Catered for events such as Buffets, Weddings, Christenings, and Birthday Parties if and when required
14. Participation in relevant staff training, supervision and appraisals.
15. To undertake other duties that is appropriate to ensure the efficient running of the Service.
16. Ensure that all food sales are recorded on the sales sheet and monies are receipted and counter signed by the Older People & Health Divisional Manager.
