Job summary

Oak Court, a Hartford Care Group home in Norwich, is seeking a caring Cook to join our friendly team. You will prepare fresh, nutritious meals that meet residents’ dietary needs and preferences, with previous kitchen experience preferred.

We offer 37.5 hours per week at £14.52 per hour, with NMC fees paid, a free DBS check, ongoing training, a free onsite car park and a company pension scheme.

Qualifications

• Level 2 Food Hygiene is essential; Level 3 desirable.
• Previous cook experience in a residential or nursing home is preferred.
• Experience in planning menus and preparing home-cooked meals.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver a varied menu of nutritious meals meeting residents' needs.
• Manage kitchen staffing and schedules to meet demand.
• Supervise safe food handling, COSHH and cleaning materials.
• Support staff through supervision and personal development.
• Assist with induction of new team members.
• Ensure temperature testing and records are maintained.
• Carry out stock takes and procure catering consumables within budget.
• Maintain an effective cleaning schedule.

About Oak Court

Oak Court is a purpose built care home situated in Taverham, Norfolk that provides en-suite accommodation for 18 residents with neurological conditions.

About The Role

We are looking for a caring, reliable and enthusiastic Cook to join our friendly care home team. You will be responsible for preparing fresh, nutritious and delicious meals that meet the dietary needs and preferences of our residents. Previous cooking experience is preferred, along with a passion for providing high-quality food.

Key Responsibilities

• Work alongside our Head Cook to plan and deliver a varied menu of nutritious, well-balanced, attractive meals that meet Service User’s individual needs.
• Ensures adequate Kitchen staff are available and plans staff schedules to meet needs.
• Supervises kitchen team in the safe handling and storage of food, use of equipment, COSHH and the use of cleaning materials, ensuring all regulations are adhered to.
• Participate in kitchen staff supervisions and reviews and supports staff to achieve their personal plan objectives.
• Assist with the induction and orientation of new members of the team.
• Ensure temperature testing of foods and storage areas are carried out as required and records are maintained.
• Carry out stock takes and orders catering consumables from approved suppliers within agreed budget.
• Implements and maintain an effective cleaning schedule.

What We Need From You

• Level 2 Food Hygiene is essential, level 3 would be desirable.
• Previous experience as a Cook in a residential or nursing home is preferred.
• Experience in menu planning and preparing home cooked meals.
