Job summary

Hartford Care Ltd. is seeking a caring Cook to join Oak Court in Taverham, Norfolk. You will prepare fresh, nutritious meals tailored to residents' dietary needs, working with the Head Cook to deliver a varied menu in a friendly team environment.

Required Level 2 Food Hygiene (Level 3 desirable) and prior cooking experience in a residential or nursing home is preferred. Benefits include DBS check, training, parking and a company pension scheme.

Qualifications

• Level 2 Food Hygiene is essential; Level 3 would be desirable.
• Previous Cook experience in a residential or nursing home is preferred.
• Experience in menu planning and preparing home cooked meals.

Responsibilities

• Work with Head Cook to plan and deliver a varied menu of nutritious meals.
• Ensure adequate kitchen staffing and plan staff schedules.
• Supervise kitchen team in safe handling, storage of food, equipment use and COSHH.
• Support staff development through supervision and appraisals.
• Assist with induction and orientation of new team members.
• Ensure temperature testing of foods and proper storage records.
• Carry out stock checks and order supplies within budget.
• Maintain an effective cleaning schedule.

About Oak Court

Oak Court is a purpose built care home situated in Taverham, Norfolk that provides en-suite accommodation for 18 residents with neurological conditions.

About the role

We are looking for a caring, reliable and enthusiastic Cook to join our friendly care home team. You will be responsible for preparing fresh, nutritious and delicious meals that meet the dietary needs and preferences of our residents. Previous cooking experience is preferred, along with a passion for providing high-quality food.

Key Responsibilities:

• Work alongside our Head Cook to plan and deliver a varied menu of nutritious, well-balanced, attractive meals that meet Service User's individual needs.
• Ensures adequate Kitchen staff are available and plans staff schedules to meet needs.
• Supervises kitchen team in the safe handling and storage of food, use of equipment, COSHH and the use of cleaning materials, ensuring all regulations are adhered to.
• Participate in kitchen staff supervisions and reviews and supports staff to achieve their personal plan objectives.
• Assist with the induction and orientation of new members of the team.
• Ensure temperature testing of foods and storage areas are carried out as required and records are maintained.
• Carry out stock takes and orders catering consumables from approved suppliers within agreed budget.
• Implements and maintain an effective cleaning schedule.

What we need from you

Level 2 Food Hygiene is essential, level 3 would be desirable.

Previous experience as a Cook in a residential or nursing home is preferred.

Experience in menu planning and preparing home cooked meals.
