Overview

REPORTS TO: Emergency Assistance Provider and Corps Officer

SUPERVISES: Volunteers

STATUS: Non-Exempt/Part-Time

SCHEDULE: Up to 29 hours weekly

FUNCTION: To support the ongoing mission of The Salvation Army by maintaining standards as it pertains to current kitchen safety protocols and food distribution ministries.

Responsibilities
  1. Prepare and serve meals in accordance with food safety standards.
  2. Maintain cleanliness, sanitization, and order in kitchen and serving area.
  3. Plan and adhere to a monthly menu.
  4. Coordinate with Emergency Assistance Provider and Corps Officer to order and obtain food and supplies.
  5. Stock and maintain food and dry storage as necessary.
  6. Accurately report food statistics.
  7. Secure kitchen and storage areas when not in use.
  8. Responsible for ordering items from the foodbank, at the confirmation of the Corps Officer, and picking up those items when necessary.
  9. Responsible for making sure supplies are ordered through the proper procedure.
  10. Participate in trainings as needed.
  11. Comply with all applicable laws and regulations pertaining to food service.
Qualifications
  1. High School Diploma or GED.
  2. Must have a valid driver’s license and pass the Salvation Army motor vehicle test.
  3. Related experience preferred but not necessary.
  4. Able to follow directions.
  5. Able to read for recipe and food safety standards clarification.
  6. Must be ServSafe food handler certified (ServSafe food manager preferred).
  7. Punctual.
  8. Ability to work independently on assigned tasks as well as to accept direction on given assignments.
  9. Able to multi-task.
  10. Professional appearance.
  11. Able to work collectively with the administrative team associates.
