Job description

Akari Care is seeking a passionate and experienced Cook to join their team in Shieldfield. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in creating a high-quality, personalized dining experience for the residents in one of Akari Care's award-winning homes. The Cook will have the autonomy to design menus, plate up, and arrange food trollies to stimulate the residents' appetites and ensure they receive the care and nutrition they deserve.

Main duties of the job

As the Cook, you will be responsible for preparing and delivering exceptional quality, wholesome, and nutritious meals for the residents. You will have the flexibility to create menus that cater to individual needs, religious and cultural backgrounds. You will work closely with the care team to ensure a personalized service and a positive dining experience for the residents. The role also involves coaching and developing a team of kitchen staff, fostering a community spirit and a caring, compassionate approach.

As the pivotal link between the kitchen and the serving areas you will have the autonomy to create menus, plate up and arrange food trollies in an attractive way in order for our residents to gain enthusiasm and a stimulated appetite to eat.

What we require from you:

City & Guilds 706 1&2, or equivalent (achieved or working towards)

Basic Food Hygiene Certificate

Head chef or Head Cook experience with similar environment /surrounding

Supervisory or Line Management experience

A caring nature to give everyone a personal approach

Proven ability to lead by example, motivate a team and delegate effectively

Flexible and adaptable to changes at short notice

Warm, approachable, and engaging persona

Respect everyone, treating others as you would expect to be treated

Resilient and adaptable to differing needs of colleagues and residents
