Introduction to the role

A talented Chef can evoke memories and bring warmth through their cooking. Orchard Care Homes values its kitchen staff, offering training, support, and the freedom to create.

You will work with the Home Manager and care staff to prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual needs, supervise a team, manage food orders, stock levels, and equipment maintenance.

Main Duties

• Plan, prepare, and cook appealing, nutritious meals respecting dietary requirements and preferences, following Orchard Care Homes’ Good Food Guide.
• Encourage and guide team members, fostering a friendly, supportive environment.
• Comply with statutory and legal requirements such as HACCP, Health & Safety, COSHH, and Infection Prevention and Control policies.
• Maintain cleaning schedules to meet Food Safety standards, including dishwashing duties.
• Order and receive food stocks from approved suppliers, ensuring freshness and quality through stock rotation.
• Engage with residents kindly, meeting their dietary needs and creating a positive dining experience.

Desirable Skills

Knowledge of texture-modified diets, food allergens, and creating meal plans tailored to individual needs.
