East Riding is recruiting a weekend cook for St Anne’s Residence in Hessle. The role involves lone-working with induction arranged with another cook and requires flexibility to swap weekends for trips and closures.

The residence operates 48 weeks a year and weekends are a regular feature of the schedule. You’ll work every other weekend, with specific Saturday and Sunday shifts, and there are enhanced rates for weekend and evening hours from 1 April 2024.

St Anne’s Residence provides short breaks to children and young people aged 5-19 years offering structure and consistency. We are rated OUTSTANDING by Ofsted.

This post is for a weekend cook in the Residence at St. Anne’s, it is a requirement that you have previous experience of running a kitchen within a business setting.

The position is primarily lone working however induction will be organised with another cook.

The candidate needs to be flexible to meet the needs of the service (ie. able to swap weekends to accommodate trips, closures). The residence is open for 48 weeks of the year.

You’ll have the opportunity to develop professionally with access to training and learning, and the support from an excellent manager and team.

You will you work every other weekend:

• Saturday 11.30am-5.30pm, preparing a light cooked lunch and tea
• Sunday 8.30am-2.30pm, preparing a roast dinner and a light tea.

In addition to the stated salary, this role attracts new enhancements from 1st April 2024 which include:

• Time and a half for weekend hours worked between 7am and 11pm
• Time and a third for weekday evening hours worked between 8pm and 11pm.
• There will also be the opportunity to pick up additional hours, should you choose.

Appointments will be subject to satisfactory disclosures at enhanced level by the Disclosure and Barring Services and other background checks, including social media. You must provide at least the last 10 years of employment or education history and explain any gaps and you must have a legal right to work in the UK.
