We are looking for a Cook, to work at the newly opened Forest Lodge Nursing Home, based in Forest Gate. This is a full time role, working Monday to Friday, 9am - 5pm including bank holidays (at an enhanced rate).

Duties of the Cook position include:

  • Prepare nutritional meals (lunch and dinner), following a menu plan, whilst meeting the needs of our culturally and diet specific residents
  • Daily cleaning and maintenance of the kitchen and equipment
  • Maintain inventory of kitchen equipment
  • Utilise knowledge of HACCP and current food regulations
  • Management of food ordering and stock rotation
  • Interaction with service users to reflect their food choices

The successful Cook will have

  • Good and proven communication skills are essential
  • Must be able to communicate verbally with vulnerable adults
  • Able to work under own initiative
  • Flexible with hours of work
  • Willingness to learn about CQC/care standards
  • Must have a minimum of food hygiene level 2 certificate and previous experience of food preparation in a commercial/domestic/hospital setting
