Job summary

Aramark UK is recruiting a Cook in their Education sector to join our team at Waltham Forest College, E17 4JB. You will provide breakfast and lunch service for roughly 250–350 covers.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. The role is permanent, Monday to Friday, term-time only (39 weeks), 35 hours (7am–2:30pm). Freemeals on shift, free parking, PerkBox discounts, life assurance, pension, and career progression are offered.

Qualifications

• Previous kitchen experience in a similar setting.
• Ability to work as part of a team and on own initiative.
• Flexible approach to hours and duties.

Responsibilities

• Oversee breakfast and lunch service for 250–350 covers.
• Prepare food according to recipes and quality standards while minimising waste.
• Supervise staff, delegate tasks, and train new employees on food prep, service, and safety.
• Ensure HACCP, COSHH, allergen regulations, and stock controls are followed.
• Maintain accurate records, inventory, and ordering to control costs.
• Handle customer enquiries and dietary requirements professionally.
• Assist in managing food costs and waste within targets.
• Keep production records, temperature logs, and audits up to date.

Job Responsibilities

• Oversee food production and service, ensuring an efficient workflow and high-quality meal preparation.
• Ensure all food is prepared according to recipe specifications, menu requirements, and quality standards whileminimisingwaste.
• Delegate tasks, supervise General Assistants, and train new employeesonfood preparation, customer service, and safety procedures
• Ensure compliance with HACCP, COSHH, allergen regulations, and company food safety policies, includingaccuraterecord keeping.
• Track inventory levels, complete stock checks, place orders, and manage stock rotation to reduce waste and control costs.
• Handle customer enquiries, dietary requirements, and complaints professionally while promoting a positive dining experience.
• Assist the Chef Manager in managing food costs, achieving gross profit targets, andmaintainingwaste levels within the 5% target.
• Maintain production records, temperature logs, cleaning schedules, and documentationrequiredfor audits and compliance purposes.
