Role: Cook
The Home: Abbeyfield Woodlands is a 31 bed Independent Living Service with Extra Care. Surrounded by picturesque woodland areas and only a short drive from the town centre.
Location: Abbeyfield Woodlands, Woodlands Drive, North Yorkshire, Skipton, BD23 1QU
Pay: £12.96 p/h - £13.24 p/h

The Role of a Cook:

  1. As a Care Home Cook, you'll develop, in consultation with residents, healthy balanced menus, with choices that reflect their needs and preferences.
  2. Plan, prepare, and cook residents’ meals from the agreed menu, taking into account personal preferences or recognized dietary requirements.
  3. Regularly seek feedback to monitor satisfaction with the menu and quality of the food provided.
  4. Work alongside our Catering Manager and other team members to provide residents with healthy, delicious meals.
  5. Maintain a system of effective stock rotation and control, managing catering costs within the agreed budget.
  6. Oversee the safe and proper use of catering equipment.
  7. Champion kitchen cleaning procedures and schedules, ensuring your kitchen and storage areas are clean and hygienic at all times, while overseeing the completion of all relevant records related to food safety.

About You:

  1. As a Cook, you’ll have a relevant Certificate in Food Hygiene and a track record of demonstrable experience cooking varied, healthy, and safe meals for large groups on a regular basis.
  2. You’ll also be able to manage resources and plan rotas in advance to ensure continuity of the catering service.
  3. Be methodical and highly organized; the kitchen and equipment will be kept clean and tidy, with an effective method of stock rotation.

Please note this role will require eligibility to work in the UK, two satisfactory employment references, and an Enhanced DBS check, the cost of which will be met by Abbeyfield.
