Akari Care operates a care home kitchen focused on nutritious meals and resident wellbeing. The Cook will create menus, plate meals attractively, and ensure meals meet individual religious and cultural needs.

The role emphasizes coaching a kitchen team and maintaining high standards while coordinating with serving staff. The position is part-time (27.5 hours/week) with a focus on mealtime supervision, staff development, and flexible patterns.

Cook post in the kitchen of a care home for older residents run by Akari Care. The work centres on mealtimes: writing menus, producing quality, nutritious food adapted to individual, religious and cultural needs, and plating food to encourage residents to eat. Hours are 27.5 a week including alternate weekends, with the postholder also coaching a kitchen team. Head chef or head cook experience and supervisory experience are expected.

• Create menus for residents

• Produce food that is quality, wholesome and nutritious
• Take account of individual needs, religious and cultural backgrounds in meal choices
• Assess how resident needs affect meal choices and keep the service personalised
• Act as the link between the kitchen and the serving areas
• Coach the kitchen team to develop and deliver their ideas

Qualifications

• City & Guilds 706 1&2 or equivalent (achieved or working towards)
• Basic Food Hygiene Certificate

Experience

• Head chef or head cook experience in a similar environment
• Supervisory or line management experience
