Job summary

Sodexo is recruiting a Cook to join the Ministry of Defence catering team in the UK. You will prepare, cook and present meals in a busy kitchen, upholding high food-safety standards while delivering a positive dining experience for military personnel.

The role requires teamwork, a passion for quality cooking, and flexibility to work 40 hours across five days. Training and development opportunities are available within a structured, supportive environment.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Chef or Cook in a catering or hospitality environment.
• Good knowledge of food safety, hygiene and health and safety standards.
• Able to work well as part of a team in a busy kitchen.
• A genuine passion for cooking and providing high-quality food and service.
• Experience in military or government catering would be an advantage.
• IOSH qualification and basic knowledge of Microsoft Office would be desirable.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, cook and serve high-quality meals in a busy, professional kitchen.
• Deliver delicious, well-presented food to military personnel, maintaining high standards.
• Work with front-of-house to provide friendly, efficient service and a great experience.
• Maintain high standards of food safety, hygiene and cleanliness following guidelines.
• Support bulk cooking and ensure dishes are consistent and fresh.
• Keep the kitchen running smoothly by following best practices and maintaining sanitation.
• Get involved in special functions and events to showcase cooking skills.
