Thompson Smith and Puxon (TSP) is seeking a proactive and well-organised Conveyancing Assistant to join our busy and respected Residential Property team. This role provides vital administrative and file management supporting our Solicitors with matter progression, helping to ensure the efficient handling of client transactions from instruction through to completion.

Key Responsibilities
- Supporting Fee Earners with residential conveyancing matters including sales, purchases, transfers of equity, re-mortgages, assents, first registrations and general property matters.
- Obtaining property searches and managing incoming documents.
- Managing routine communication and follow-ups to chase outstanding documents and information.
- Liaising with clients, estate agents, mortgage lenders, and other conveyancers firms to support progress of transactions.
- Drafting routine letters and correspondence under supervision.
- Supporting fee earners with drafting contract packs, dealing with enquiries, and coordinating exchange and completion to include the preparation of the completion statements and applying for pre-completion searches.
- Ensuring all files are kept up to date and maintained in accordance with regulatory and firm standards.
- Supporting with post-completion tasks, including dealing with Land Registry applications and SDLT submissions.
- To help at all times to support the Residential Property Team with any tasks that need to be undertaken on a particular day to include supporting other colleagues in busy times or holiday periods.
Skills and Qualifications
- Previous experience in a conveyancing assistant or legal support role is desirable.
- Strong understanding of the residential conveyancing process and associated documentation.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and confident learning legal case management systems.
- A professional and client-focused approach.
- A law degree or legal studies qualification is beneficial but not essential.
